After a late night stroll around Carcassonne, to experience the city without the visitors, we bumped into a couple of travellers who were on a pilgrimage from the Alsace region of France to Compostelo del Santiago on the Spanish, Portuguese border. They were trying to achieve this project, walking 20-25 km per day with no money, relying on the generosity of the people they meet to get them to their end point. A couple of Euros and half an hour later we were experiencing the mediaeval city, basically deserted, bathed in the soft glow of sodium lighting, (probably fitted after the city was built in the 11th century).
In the morning, Reg spluttered into life and we headed east, slowly creeping towards Italy. Messrs Tom Tom, had a surprise for us today, they did as requested and sent us on non toll roads but as we passed through some of the mountain passes, everybody had to breath in to get through some of the roads. Nonetheless, we arrived at the tiny village of rozier . Surrounded by gorges on all sides, with the river running through the valley we decended to the campground.
Today, George has not been the centre of attention and is currently staging a sit in until we get him someone to show off to.

Aw poor George. He is looking very put out.

Don’t feel sorry for him 🙂 , he’s getting lots of treats and been in the river loads of times. I’m trying to practice that look he has to see if I can get my own way all the time too :-). Not working so far !
