The wind had dropped overnight and was replaced with a sea mist, casting an eery halo around the morning sun. The Tom Tom brothers were programmed and they reliably informed us that we had 85 km to Carcassone, and it was best for us to follow the D routes as opposed to the more major routes. Now confident with handling Reg through narrow streets, we set off through the, now familiar, landscape of vineyards and picturesque villages. Having found GPS co-ordinates of a Camping car aire the night before from a forum, we began to get worried as the streets got narrower and narrower, cursing both Tom, Tom and the author of the forum in turn until……. voila !, there it was, about 400 m from the beautiful walled, mediaeval city of Carcassonne, with its witches hat turrets and golden walls.

Now I’m a man with an ample tummy so no stranger to food so, when the guide book suggested we must try the cassoulet, a slow cooked dish full of white beans, pork and sausage..I was first in the queue. I’m even getting used to a large pastis before hand, purely to prepare for the meal you understand.
I’m not going to bore you with how George was the centre of attention again but There’ll be no prizes for guessing who is now demanding his own photos, and insisting that they are only taken presenting his best side!

I love Carcassonne…did buy a sword? 😊

Jesus! That is enough food for three people! I thought that was an American thing being gluttonous!? Lol. Looks tasty though. I’m Googling like a madman learning about all these places. I feel like I owe you some form of bursary for helping my European education!

It’s all part of the service! There’s a reason why my clothes keep on appearing to shrink 😃

Note to self, don’t read about you wonderful meals while hungry. I started drooling on the keyboard and can’t hear myself think over my stomach growling.
